Nsaids

Every day millions of people take over-the-counter and prescription NSAIDs (more commonly known as pain killers or anti-inflammatory meds) for pain relief, headaches and arthritis.

Many; including nurofen, panandol and aspirin are available over the counter. Although NSAIDs and aspirin provide great benefit in terms of pain relief, there is an increased risk of gastrointestinal complications ranging from stomach pain to ulcers. In the long term these drugs can eventually affect liver function, because foreign materials are processed in the liver. If there is a possibility of side effect in a substance it means that there is something inside it that is very unnatural to the body. Salads don’t have side effects.

Each year, the side effects of long-term NSAID use contribute to nearly 103,000 hospitalisations & 16,500 deaths.

This is not to scare you but only to inform you- If you have been using pain killers for a few months you might need to re-evaluate your plan. Pain killers only mask the symptoms of pain- it does not treat the cause; pain happens as a result of something not being right in the body. If you are actively seeking out help or treatment to treat the cause then there is nothing wrong with having a pain killer with a flare up; but, if you are not doing anything about your possible cause of the problem and just popping pain killers it is the start of an unhealthy habit.
