Weight Loss Day 26

Day 26

When was your last alcohol free day? Like any part of this journey, it’s not about trying to kill your fun, but rather help you get the results you’re after, and then find the right balance of all things moving forward from there.

It’s often thought that the “beer belly” is caused by excess alcohol calories being stored as fat. The reality is though that less than 5% of the alcohol calories you drink are turned into fat.

The primary effect of alcohol on the body is not necessarily how much of it gets stored as fat, but how it shuts down the body’s ability to access your fat stores for energy.

Doesn’t sound like a good buddy to have when you’re trying to lose weight does it.

Think about the remaining 6 weeks of the challenge and make a plan for how you can manage your alcohol intake. If there are special events or occasions coming up, then give yourself permission to enjoy them, whilst still balancing your overall weekly alcohol intake.

Learning how to give yourself permission without guilt, and still maintaining good choices within those permissions is a really important transition in your whole of life health and wellbeing journey. It can be a tricky bridge to cross, as a little permission can lead us directly into temptation and set us up for failure, yet trying to be strict and rigid will often lead to the all or nothing mentality we want to avoid, where one little slip up and we throw in the towel.

It is a genuinely tricky balance to find, so be good to yourself as you’re working your way through it @user_first_name@. Remember that any good choice will still put you in a better position that if you hadn’t made it at all. If you trip up along the way, just make the next choice a good one and don’t look back.

Avoid alcohol as much as you can for now so that you don't sabotage all your other efforts. This can then be something that you re-introduce in a balanced way once you have achieved your goals.

Remember, if you're having trouble with any specific area of change, make sure you talk to us and see what we can do to help and get you where you want to be.
